Tax refund at the airport
Many of you asked about TAX REFUND at the airport, I will inform you.
To To participate in the GST refund program in Singapore, you need to meet the following conditions:
1. You must be 16 years of age or older;
2. You are not a Singapore citizen or permanent resident;
3. On the date of purchase, within the previous 3 months, or on the date you lodge your tax refund claim at the airport, you must not have held any type of visa that allows you to work or study long-term in Singapore. In addition, you must not have held an Identity Card issued by the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
4. You are not a crew member on duty;
5. You depart Singapore via Changi Airport or Seletar Airport;
6. You must carry the purchased goods in your personal luggage within two months from the date of purchase;
7. Purchase value must be S$100 or more (including GST). A qualifying transaction can include up to 3 invoices/receipts on the same day from stores with the same GST registration number and store name.
Guide to getting tax refund when shopping in Singapore
1. Purchase at participating stores
• Look for the “Tax Free Shopping” symbol or ask the salesperson if the store participates in the GST Refund program.
• Ensure that the total purchase value in one day at the same store (or stores with the same GST registration number) is at least SGD 100 (including tax).
2. Request for tax refund invoice
• When paying, ask the staff to issue an electronic tax refund invoice (eTRS ticket) or use your passport to link your purchase to the eTRS (Electronic Tourist Refund Scheme) system.
3. Go to the airport and claim your tax refund
• Arrive at Changi or Seletar Airport on the day of departure.
• Go to the eTRS kiosks (located in front of the check-in counter) and scan your passport to verify your purchase information.
• Follow the on-screen instructions to submit your refund request.
• You may need to present the goods to customs if required by the system (it is recommended to leave the goods unchecked for inspection if necessary).
4. Get your tax refund
• Once your refund request is approved, you can choose to:
• Receive cash (at the tax refund counter after passing through security check),
• Receive by credit card
